Laugh-and-a-Half Race Registration Open

2018 Laugh and a Half Marathon Finish LineRace registration is open to runners, joggers and walkers of all ages for the 2019 Laugh-and-a-half-marathon to be held on Saturday, June 15 in Norfolk, Nebraska. The event includes a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, kid’s fun run race and team challenge. This year’s race theme is Run Your Laugh Off.

Named a "Top Race Worth Traveling For" in the state of Nebraska, as well as included in the book, “The Runner’s Bucket List: 200 Races to Run Before You Die”, the Laugh-and-a-half-marathon race routes follow alongside the Elkhorn River on the beautiful and scenic Cowboy Trail with a start and finish at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park.

$100 in prize money and a winner's trophy is awarded to the overall male and female half-marathon race winners with all half-marathon finishers receiving a special finisher medal. All participants receive a t-shirt and access to the pre-race pasta party and post-race pancake feed and entertainment.

The inspiration for the event is due in part to Norfolk native, Johnny Carson, and is held the same weekend as the Great American Comedy Festival.  Event sponsors, Faith Regional Health Services and the New 94 Rock, have partnered to promote wellness and ensure funds raised through the event support pediatric needs in northeast Nebraska.

Over $80,000 in funds have been raised over the last eight years helping fund projects including Norfolk’s Pedal Park, a kid’s bicycle safety course in Norfolk, TheraPlay, a specialized outpatient pediatric therapy area at Faith Regional Rehabilitation Therapies, state-of-the-art equipment for Faith Regional Pediatrics, and an inclusive playground in Norfolk called Embrace Park.

In addition to registered runners, the event’s organizers are looking for volunteers to help the day of the event. Whether it is staffing water stations, handing medals, or cheering and helping direct runners along the course, a variety of volunteer opportunities are available. To sign up to volunteer, visit event website or call 94.7 KNEN at (402) 371-0100.
