When to Seek Emergency Care
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room if you are experiencing an illness, injury, or symptoms that could cause death or disability, such as:
- An allergic reaction with trouble breathing, hives, or swelling
- Chest pain that lasts for more than a few minutes
- Difficulty breathing
- Heavy bleeding, severe burns, or deep wounds
- High fever with a headache or stiff neck
- Injury to the neck, spine, or head, especially if you are also experiencing other symptoms
- Passing out, fainting, or having seizures
- Poisoning or overdose
- Serious injuries
- Severe and persistent vomiting or diarrhea
- Sudden severe headache or pain, such as in the jaw or arm
- Sudden confusion, weakness, loss of balance, face drooping, blurred vision, slurred speech, or other signs of a stroke
Faith Regional’s Emergency Room
Faith Regional’s Emergency Room, located in Norfolk, Nebraska is a Level III Trauma Center. You can find quick, expert care for serious injuries 24 hours a day. We serve as backup for many regional rural and community hospitals and have transfer agreements with Level I Trauma Centers if your condition requires an even higher level of care. Our Emergency Room can provide you advanced treatment and services in:
Heart Attack Care
If you are experiencing chest pain or other symptoms of a heart attack, get care immediately. The sooner you receive heart attack care, the higher your chances are for an optimal outcome.
Faith Regional’s staff is extensively trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat heart attacks. When you enter the building, notify us immediately if you are experiencing any heart attack symptoms.

Stroke Care
You should never ignore the warning signs of a stroke, even if they go away rather quickly. Symptoms of a stroke include sudden:
- Blurred, double, or decreased vision
- Confusion or problems with memory, spatial orientation, or perception
- Difficulty speaking or understanding speech
- Dizziness, loss of balance, or loss of coordination
- Numbness, weakness, or paralysis of your face, arm, or leg (usually on one side of the body)
Just remember, BE FAST.
If you are experiencing any of these signs, get care immediately. Faith Regional’s staff is expertly trained in providing best practices in stroke care. We can quickly assess and triage you accordingly.
Air Ambulance
Air ambulance services are provided by LifeNet. A helicopter is onsite to transfer patients to and from Faith Regional for emergency care when needed.
What to Expect
When you arrive in our emergency room, your condition will be assessed. Those with critical injuries or symptoms will be seen first. This means that you may see people who arrive after you called back before you. If you do need to briefly wait, you can use that time to complete your registration and insurance forms.
When it’s your time to be seen, a nurse will bring you into a treatment room. A provider will talk to you about your symptoms, examine you, and may recommend lab or imaging tests for further assessment.
Your team will explain your options and treatment plan. You may be discharged from the emergency room with information about how to care for yourself or be admitted to stay overnight in the hospital.
