Meet Tom of Dorchester, Nebraska, a small town about 40 miles southwest of Lincoln. At the age of 45, Tom suffered two heart attacks within 10 days. The cause: Atrial Fibrillation, an irregular, often rapid heart rate that commonly causes poor blood flow. When Tom's cardiologist told him that was nothing he could do for him, he knew he had to look around. He drove to Norfolk to meet with Dr. Edward Raines, a cardiothoracic surgeon with Faith Regional CardioVascular Institute. After a consultation, Dr. Raines knew he could help him. Today, Tom is doing well and calls the procedure that Dr. Raines performed, a Cox Maze III, a complete success.
Meet Kevin of Ewing, Nebraska. While undergoing a stress test in O'Neill, Kevin's heart stopped. He was life-flighted to Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk where he had heart surgery. Today, Kevin is doing great. He hasn't felt this good in years. He doesn't think that he could have gotten better care anywhere else.
