Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center Honors Team Member

Lou SiefkerThe Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center presented Detective Lou Siefker of the Norfolk Police Division with the “In the Spirit of Children” Award. The award honors LB 1184 Child Abuse and Neglect Team Members who have contributed to the welfare of children by providing exemplary service to children in the investigation and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

Detective Siefker has been with the Norfolk Police Division since 2001 and was promoted to Detective in 2007. In the last year he investigated 75 Child Abuse/Neglect cases, while also investigating other crimes as well.

Detective Siefker’s nominators stated, “As the primary investigator of child abuse at Norfolk PD, Lou has a sizable caseload.  As we know, intakes come in daily, sometimes multiple times a day, and many of those require multiple interviews and follow-ups.  Lou does these without delay.” “In every case he investigates, he does as much as possible to protect the child(ren).  Lou cares and the exceptional work he does shows that.”

The Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center is a child-friendly, coordinated program in one location where representatives from many disciplines gather evidence, evaluate, and make decisions about the investigation, treatment, prosecution and prevention of child victimization.  Since the Center opened in September 2004, they have worked with over 4,500 child and adult victims. The Center provides services such as forensic interviews, forensic medical exams, hair testing, advocacy, court school, and community education. Utilizing a joint investigative team approach, the Child Advocacy Center is a hospital-based community partnership dedicated to pursuing the truth in child abuse investigations.
