Having pulmonologists based in Norfolk allows for timely treatment of diagnoses such as asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis/COPD; lung tumors and cancer; lung infections and pneumonia; various interstitial lung diseases, such as Farmer's Lung; pulmonary hypertension; pulmonary embolism and vasculitis; acute and chronic respiratory failure; sleep apnea; insomnia and many others.
Wajahat Khalil, M.D.
Dr. Khalil, a pulmonologist, specializes in the treament and diagnosis of pulmonary, critical care and sleep disorders.
Dr. Khalil received his medical degree from the Baqai Medical College at the University of Karachi-Pakistan where he graduated with distinctions in gynecology, obstetrics, pediatrics, otolaryngology and ophthalmology. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois School of Medicine and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.
In addition, Dr. Khalil went on to pursue a fellowship in pulmonary/critical care and sleep medicine at the University of Minnesota and is Board Certified in Pulmonary Disease. During his fellowship, he pursued research in understanding molecular mechanism involved in Pathophysiology and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
 Daniel Iltchev, M.D.
Dr. Iltchev, a pulmonologist, specializes in the treatment and diagnosis of pulmonary, critical care and sleep disorders, and is Advanced Cardiac Life Support certified.
Dr. Iltchev received his medical degree from The Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria and completed his internal medicine residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he received the honors of Resident of the Year and Intern of the Year. He completed his Pulmonary/Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Fellowship at Ohio State University. Dr. Iltchev is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine.
